Avi Gokool is a freelance journalist who primarily focuses on issues affecting local and historic communities, human rights, and gentrification. He takes inspiration from Anthony Bourdain and hopes to give audiences a peek at some of Japan's more esoteric enclaves and communities through unconventional means of storytelling like interviews over shared meals. Chie Matsumoto
松元 ちえ（まつもと ちえ）
Chie Matsumoto is a Japan-based journalist. She worked as a Tokyo correspondent at German Press Agency, dpa, and a reporter for the International Herald Tribune/The Asahi Shimbun. While she taught media literacy at Hosei University and media and contemporary social issues in Japan at Sophia University, she also worked as a research assistant in the Media and Journalism Studies at Tokyo University graduate program. Her works appear in books, Gender Hyogen Gaidobukku (Gender Expression Guidebook)(Shogakukan, 2022), Masukomi Sekuhara Hakusho (State of Sexual Harassment in Media) (Bungei Shunju, 2020) among others, and in translations of The Purpose of Power (Sekai wo Ugokasu Henkaku no Chikara) (co-translator, Akashi Shoten, 2021) and others.

David McNeill

Dr. David McNeill is a professor at the Department of English Language, Communication and Cultures at Sacred Heart University in Tokyo. He was previously a correspondent for The Independent and The Economist newspapers and for The Chronicle of Higher Education and his work has appeared in The New York Times, The Guardian, The Financial Times and other international publications. He is co-author of the book Strong in the Rain (with Lucy Birmingham) about the 2011 Tohoku disaster. He is an Asia-Pacific Journal editor and a long-term member of the Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan.

She has an M.S. from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. In addition, she has an M.A. in international relations and economics from the International University of Japan in Niigata and a B.A. in business administration from Bogazici University in Istanbul. Yorulmaz speaks Turkish, Japanese, French and English. She’s a member of the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Japan and served as its second Vice-President.

Mami Yoshinaga has reported for a mainstream, statewide newspaper before she became freelance. For two years since September 2020, she was an executive president of Japan Federation of Newspaper Workers’ Unions. As a freelance reporter, she covers social welfare, labor and gender issues.
記者 全国紙勤務を経て、フリー。福祉や労働、ジェンダーをテーマに取材執筆している。2020年9月から２年間、新聞労連の委員長を務めた。
